Directions
From I-5, take State Highway 542 (Mount Baker Highway) east to Glacier. Turn left onto Twin Lakes Road just past the Highway Maintenance sheds. Continue to Yellow Aster Butte trailhead after about 4.5 miles. Rugged 4-wheel-drive high-clearance vehicles may be able to proceed to the road end at 7 miles. If your vehicle is not suitable for this very rough section of road, park at the Yellow Aster Butte trailhead and hike the remaining 3 miles.

Historic Winchester Fire Lookout can be seen to the west above the lake.
